Game director The Callisto Protocol Glen Scofield revealed in an interview with IGN at the show Gamescom 2022 details on the weapon customization system in the upcoming survival horror game and how this system will affect combat.
Each weapon in The Callisto Protocol will have its own upgrade tree, and players will be able to upgrade them using 3D printers located around the locations that act as workbenches.
The upgrade tree will offer upgrade options that will allow the weapon to change over time. For example, instead of a linear increase in damage, players will be able to make weapons more narrowly focused depending on the upgrades they choose.
At the same time, you won’t be able to open the entire tree of improvements in one playthrough, which, according to Scofield, is the replay value of The Callisto Protocol. Weapons will also be evenly balanced between melee and ranged combat, giving players more options in their combat preferences.
Lastly, Scofield noted that with the game still months away from release, the studio’s main work on the project now is fixing bugs.
The Callisto Protocol will be released December 2nd.
