Upcoming restart Alone in the Dark from Pieces Interactive seems to be getting a playable teaser prologue.
Edition VideoGamer managed to get on Gamescom 2022 some new information about the upcoming survival horror, including the fact that a playable teaser shown at the exhibition will be released to the public at a later date.
In a conversation with a representative of the portal, producer Michael Pack said:
“We don’t know if it will be before release or next year. We’ll have to see how things play out first. But, of course, a lot of work has been done.”
The prologue is effectively separate from the main game, offering the third character Grace’s story as she explores the ill-fated Derceto estate before Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood get there.
The portal also received some more interesting information about the game. The duration of the new Alone in the Dark, apparently, will be about 12 hours. Moreover, although comparisons with Resident Evil seem obvious the developers said that their project will not get too close to the more action-oriented parts of this series.
“This is not Resident Evil 4,” they said, assuring fans that gunplay in Alone in the Dark would be “battles of desperation” to keep the tension high. The authors will discuss this in more detail later.
The Alone in the Dark reboot doesn’t have a release date yet. The game was announced two weeks ago during the presentation THQ Nordic. You can see the first details here and here.
