Apple Launches MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Self-Repair Program

Apple today announced the launch of a self-repair program for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models. Users will be able to obtain repair manuals as well as genuine Apple parts and tools through the Apple Repair Store. The Apple Self-Repair Program is available for all MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with the company’s M1 series processors. According to Apple, users will receive more than a dozen different types of repairs for each individual model. This repair will include the display, top case, battery, trackpad, and more. This is not the first time that Apple has introduced self-repair for its products. The company is also offering the service for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models since the beginning of this year. From now on, the repair service will work for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models in the same way as for iPhone.

Users will first have to read the repair manual before deciding to visit a self-service store to order tools and parts. Self-repair rental kits will be available for $49 for users who want to fix their faulty MacBook Air or Pro in one repair. The toolkit will be available to users within a week with free shipping. Users will also have the option to send defective Apple parts for recycling. Later this year, Apple will launch the program in other countries, starting with Europe. The company says, “For the vast majority of customers who do not have experience repairing electronic devices, visiting a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair.”
