BBC has stopped licensing content for Russia – because of this, some series have already disappeared on Kinopoisk

The other day, subscribers of the Russian online cinema “Kinopoisklost access to some old foreign films, including Interstellar and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and now content has begun to disappear from the service library BBC.

As reported by “Kommersant“, this is due to the fact that the British corporation has revoked the license for its content for Russia. Because of this, on Kinopoisk you can no longer watch such series as “Ripper Street”, “Miss Marple”, “War and Peace” and “Pride and Prejudice”, while part of other BBC productions, such as “Doctor Who” , “Empty Crown”, “The Tudors”, “Merlin” and “Killing Eve” are still in the catalog.

“We have stopped licensing content for Russian users,” the BBC said.

Kinopoisk itself stated that the information about the disappearance of all BBC series is “incorrect” – popular British series are still available to subscribers. As for the revocation of licenses, representatives of the online cinema did not comment on this point.

Earlier, the press service of Kinopoisk linked the disappearance of content with the difficulties of renewing existing contracts with studios.
