Embracer Group dissolves former studio Square Enix Montrealwhich was acquired from a Japanese publisher in May this year and rebranded in October, renaming it to Onoma.
According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Embracer made the announcement today at an investor meeting. After the closing of the studio, part of the staff will be transferred to the neighboring Eidos Montreal.
Square Enix Montreal was best known for creating mobile puzzle games. Hitman GO and Lara Croft GO.
Onoma became part of the Swedish holding’s purchase of western assets from Square Enix along with Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics, however, according to Schreier, the company was not particularly needed due to a change in course, in which Embracer decided to focus only on PC and consoles.
