AT Final Fantasy XVI players will be offered not only a rich central storyline, but also a variety of side activities. The developers have prepared many additional quests, battles and meetings with interesting characters.
As explained by the game director Hiroshi Takai, Optional content in Final Fantasy XVI is designed to complement and expand on the main storyline of the game.
“That aspect of the game that is commonly called the “main story” is a deep and large-scale narrative, following a linear progression without auxiliary branches. But in addition to this, the project will also be able to offer many optional mini-stories, content that will better reveal the development of the world, give the characters additional faces,” the developer explained.
In addition, Takai spoke briefly about the structure of Final Fantasy XVI. According to him, the game will offer episodes of different content and format. — these will be both open “hubs” with scope for exploring settlements and other large locations, as well as linear episodes with direct and sequential levels.
The game director also confirmed that there is no need to grind to complete the main story in Final Fantasy XVI. However, for challenge lovers, there are enough tasks — they are waiting for difficult fights with side bosses, collecting secret rewards and resources.
Final Fantasy XVI is set to release worldwide in summer 2023 exclusively on PlayStation 5. An exact release date will be announced in the coming months..
