Gift for Cosmonautics Day: The release date of the Russian film “Challenge”, partially filmed in space, has been revealed


Russian drama”Call“, which was filmed partly in space, has an exact release date.

The beginning of the tape rental in cinemas was timed to coincide with the next Cosmonautics Day – April 12, 2023. This was announced during the Knowledge marathon by the executive director of Channel One, Konstantin Ernst, who is producing the film.

Ernst also said that the shooting process of “The Challenge” is already nearing completion – it remains to shoot only footage from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.


The Challenge will be the first ever feature film to be filmed in space on the International Space Station.. The director and performer of one of the roles is Klym Shipenko – director of “Salyut-7”, “Text” and “Kholop”.

The film tells about the cardiologist Zhenya performed by Julia Peresild, which goes into space to operate on the astronaut Ivan. He passed out on the ISS and cannot return home without receiving medical attention. Milos Bikovich, Vladimir Mashkov, Elena Valyushkina, Alexander Baluev and active Russian cosmonauts also participate in the tape.
