Hackers Use Genshin Impact Anti-Cheat to Bypass Antiviruses and Generate Ransomware

Cybersecurity experts from Trend Micro told about the exploitation of the vulnerability of the anti-cheat driver by cybercriminals Genshin Impactwhich works at the kernel level and helps hackers distribute ransomware and successfully bypass antiviruses.

The scammers reportedly started distributing malware at the end of July 2022. At the same time, fans do not even need to install the original game – the Genshin Impact anti-cheat driver has a Microsoft digital certificate, so attackers simply integrate it into their own application and then run the necessary processes.

However, HoYoverse is aware of the problem, but is inactive. The developers only once responded to the complaints of the players and updated the anti-cheat so that it turns off when Genshin Impact is not running.
