Opinion about this in an interview with the publication Vogue shared Margot Robbie herself, in a peculiar way explaining the style of clothing of the puppet heroine. According to the actress, Barbie likes to show off in revealing outfits, but it’s pointless to dream of intimacy with her, because she is not alive.

“I’m playing a doll. A plastic doll. She has no organs, which means there are no reproductive functions.

If she has no reproductive organs, will she feel sexual desire? No, I don’t think,” said Margot Robbie.

“Barbie is really being sexualized, they are projecting their desires onto her. But she does not strive to be sexy. She can wear a short skirt, but this is only because she likes pink, she is cheerful and she has such a style. And not because she wants show you my ass.”

Ryan Gosling joined Margot Robbie on screen as Ken.


Directed by Greta Herzig (“Little Women”), the film also stars Hari Nef, Emma McKee, singer Dua Lipa, Ana Cruz Kanye, Sharon Rooney, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Nicola Coughlan, Alexandra Shipp, Rita Arya and Emerald.

Barbie premieres in theaters 21 July.
