Jeff Grubb: Xbox Series X|S owners are in for a good year for exclusives in 2023 – Microsoft is preparing hit sequels and new IPs

According to a famous insider Jeff Grubbin 2021-2022 in plans Microsoft for 2023 included the release of nine exclusives for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The lineup included Fable from Playground Games, Perfect Dark from The Initiative and Avowed from Obsidian Entertainment.

The full list looked like this:

  • Hellblade 2
  • Perfect Dark
  • Fable
  • Contraband
  • Avowed
  • Everwild
  • New InXile Entertainment game
  • New game from Compulsion Games
  • New game from The Coalition (Gears 6)

Over time, these plans have been amended. Starfield, Redfall and Forza Motorsport moved from 2022 to 2023, and Fable, Perfect Dark and Everwild will obviously not be completed on time.

Still, after a relatively empty 2022, Xbox users should expect a good 2023, Grubb says.. He believes that the expected Starfield, Redfall and Forza Motorsport Hellblade 2, a new InXile Entertainment game, a new Compulsion Games game, and a new game from the makers of Gears of War will join. The last three are new IPs.

“Everwild will definitely miss 2023,” Grubb said.

Microsoft plans to increase the number of games from its internal studios over time. They will all debut immediately in an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
