MediaTek has announced the release of a chipset for Wi-Fi routers, as well as for mobile devices with access points. The new MediaTek T830 5G chipset uses the company’s own M80 modem with sub-6GHz support for global 5G connectivity. It is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor that is paired with a 3GPP Release-16 cellular modem. Thanks to the Network Processing Unit (NPU), the T830 supports 20Gbps through 5G network, Ethernet or Wi-Fi connections, which also does not require the participation of the CPU.
The MediaTek T830 5G chip supports new Wi-Fi 7 features such as MLO (Multi-Link Operation) and support for 320MHz channels.
