Microsoft added the ability to play games offline in the latest update for Xbox

Pretty long one of the problems Xbox was inability to play user-owned games without an internet connection.

After some time Microsoftseems to have changed the requirements for DRM, because after the release of the September update, Xbox owners can now finally play games offline, albeit with some caveats.

Youtuber Hikikomori Media released a video in which he talked about the change and tested how games now behave without connecting the console to the network.

New update lets you play all games offline on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with the exception of some titles, like Forza Horizon 5 and Halo: Infinite, whose discs contain only part of the files, and the rest must be downloaded. Also, Internet access is still required for projects with the Xbox and Xbox 360, since in the case of titles from older consoles, the discs act only as a key to verify the license, while the games themselves are downloaded from servers in the form of backward compatible versions.

Moreover, if you have already downloaded the game, then the next time you start offline, there should be no problems.. The same applies to all purchased digital copies of games downloaded to the console.

Another point: new users who have just purchased an Xbox still require an initial registration before they can start playing. To do this, you need to connect to the Internet at least once to activate your account, after which the system will be able to run games offline.

Previously, the only solution for playing offline was to set your Xbox as your home console, but this method did not always work correctly.
