Miguel Sapochnik Steps Down as ‘House of the Dragon’ Showrunner


Miguel Sapochnik exits the newly launched project HBO. Producer “Bastard battles“will not be directly involved in the creation of the second season”dragon houses“. Now Ryan Kondal will be the sole showrunner of the series and will continue to work closely with the author of the book cycle “Song of Ice and Fire» George R.R. Martin.

Sapochnik has signed a deal with HBO to create new projects and will remain as an executive producer on House of the Dragon for the duration of the show. The producers will also feature director Alan Taylor in the production of several episodes of the second season. The latter directed the final episodes of the first and second seasons of Game of Thrones, entitled Fire and Blood and Valar Morghulis.

Miguel Sapochnik worked on the prequel for three years and directed three episodes of the first season, including the pilot. The showrunner said he was proud of his work and wished Kondal continued success with the team.
