Nintendo Disables Another Online Feature on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo announced that the 25th of October will disable the ability to link accounts with Twitter and Facebook*. It means that users will no longer be able to sign in to a Nintendo Account using the specified social networks or use them to create new accounts.

From this date, you will only be able to sign in with your Nintendo Account or a linked Google or Apple account. If you are asked to log in again after the new rules go into effect, simply enter your Nintendo Account email address (or login ID) and password, or log in with your Google or Apple account.

Besides, Nintendo warned that at the same time as this change, it will close on Wii U and 3ds image sharing function. Players will no longer be able to post screenshots directly to Twitter or Facebook*.

The limitation has become another in the list of cuts to the online capabilities of older consoles. The next step will be the permanent end of eShop sales on discontinued devices, which will occur on March 27th.

* The social network is owned by Meta, a recognized extremist organization in Russia.
