Nintendo responded to a question about the likelihood of a price increase on the Switch console in the world

Despite logistical difficulties, the weak yen and the shortage of electronic components, which has already led to an increase in production costs Switchcompany Nintendo is not going to raise prices for current models of their consoles. About this President Shuntaro Furukawa said in an interview with the publication Nikkei.

“Now we are not considering such plans. There are two reasons for this. First, in order to continue to provide a wide audience with access to our products, we do not want to make adjustments to current pricing decisions. It is important for the company to consistently produce entertainment products of a wide variety of level, with the issue of price tags always being carefully set on a case-by-case basis. Secondly, Nintendo is also successful in selling digital content,” the Nintendo executive explained.

In the same interview, Furukawa noted that Nintendo plans to maintain the current positive sales dynamics of the Nintendo Switch in its sixth year of life, with which new high-profile releases should help in the coming months, such as Splatoon 3 and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Furukawa previously confirmed that Switch prices won’t go up in Japandespite the weakening of the yen. Sony has so far evaded answering a similar question about the PlayStation 5.
