NVIDIA will again release the GeForce RTX 3080 at 12 GB

NVIDIA may once again consider resuming production of GeForce RTX 3080 12GB graphics cards due to overstock of GA102 GPUs. The production of the same card expired a few months ago. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB graphics card was released in January this year. The card was an upgrade to the GA102 GPU and an improved design over the company’s 10GB model. Also, since the GeForce RTX 3090 series has been expensive for some time, the company needed to replace this model with a more affordable one. We’ve reported that NVIDIA has to proactively address growing inventory issues with the GeForce RTX 30 series to the point where there are more cards than demanding consumers incredibly close to launching next-gen GPUs.

For example, an insider reported that NVIDIA has once again resumed production of the GeForce RTX 3080 12GB due to the large number of GA102 GPUs still in their warehouses. The NVIDIA GA102 GPU currently powers various graphics cards such as the RTX 3080 10GB, RTX 3080 12GB, RTX 3080 Ti 12GB, RTX 3090 24GB, and RTX 3090 Ti 24GB. Updating old cards to create new video cards for the company is nothing new for NVIDIA. The company has previously taken premium graphics cards and repurposed parts or design for more economical consumer prices. There is a possibility that the company’s profit will decline, but it recovers every time with the release of new generation cards and new sales associated with it.
