OmniVision Unveils New OVB0A Sensor for Mobile Devices


OmniVision has unveiled the new OmniVision OVB0A sensor for next generation smartphones. OVB0A is the second 200MP sensor from OmniVision. Recall that the first was the OVB0B sensor, but it never appeared in any smartphone.

It has an optical format of 1/1.395″ and is quite large, but smaller than previously presented by Samsung ISOCELL HP1 sensors, while exactly the same as ISOCELL HP3. Pixel size 0.56 µm. The sensor supports binning of 16 cells, so that photos are obtained with a resolution of 12.5 megapixels. Video can be shot in 4K at 120 fps, 8K at 30 fps is also supported.


The new OmniVision OVB0A sensor will appear in smartphones in the fourth quarter.
