Phil Spencer answered a question about the potential resurrection of Scalebound from PlatinumGames

Corporations Microsoft there is nothing to say about the possibility of resuming development Scalebound from Japanese studio PlatinumGames.

She flipped this page for herself five years ago when the project was closed, but over the past year, the authors have several times called on Xbox to give the project another chance, and apparently, discussions of this issue can really be conducted.

Answering a question about the game in an interview with a Japanese publication GameWatchSpencer was not as categorical as he was two years ago.

“Now I can’t say anything about Scalebound,” Phil Spencer said shortly.

For context, we recall that the renewed interest in Scalebound on the network began after words of game designer Hideki Kamiya about the desire to return to the project again.

“We’ve done a lot of work, and it doesn’t make sense for Microsoft to leave the game as it is, so we’d like to do something about it (laughs). Phil! Let’s do it together!” said the head of PlatinumGames.

The cancellation of Scalebound, created for Xbox One and PC, was announced in 2017.

As part of a documentary released a few years later by the studio Cutscenes Hideki Kamiya admitted that the development process of the game suffered greatly due to the lack of experience from PlatinumGames, especially in terms of interacting with the Unreal Engine and integrating multiplayer elements into the story.

At the same time, Phil Spencer also spoke about the sad fate of Scalebound before, noting that Microsoft maintains warm relations with the PlatinumGames team, and the sides perceive the failed game as an unfortunate combination of circumstances, where the main mistake was an early announcement.
