Phil Spencer hasn’t given up hope: Final Fantasy XIV talks continue on Xbox

Corporation Microsoft continues negotiations with the publisher Square Enix in search of ways to release a multiplayer role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV on consoles Xbox. To date, the parties have not reached confident results, but remain hopeful for a positive result..

On the potential release of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox consoles in an interview with reporters spoke Phil Spencer.

“Yes, there really was such an announcement from us (laughs). We have not forgotten about it. Microsoft and Square Enix continue to work in the interests of users, and we are not going to stop our joint efforts in this direction,” said Phil Spencer.

Recall that the release of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox was promised to users personally by Phil Spencer back in 2019. However, to date the game has not made it to Microsoft platforms for a variety of reasons.

According to game director and producer Naoki Yoshida, the release of Final Fantasy XIV on new platforms is complicated by a number of technical limitations, as well as a limited staff of Square Enix developers. The game is evolving every year and requires a significant investment of staff and resources for active support, in the context of which the port on the Xbox is a difficult task for developers.

Final Fantasy XIV is available today on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. It is planned to be supported for at least another 10 years..
