Remedy continues to work on five projects at the same time. In the latest financial report, the studio shared small updates on each of them.
CEO Thero Virtala once again confirmed that Alan Wake 2 is in full production and still scheduled for release in 2023. According to him, the creation of the game is progressing in all directions, but there is still a lot of work ahead. Nothing has been heard about the project since the new concept art appeared in May, but even then Sam Lake said that most of the game is already in a playable state.
In addition to Alan Wake 2, the studio is busy with two Control projects, codenamed Condor and Heron. The first one is a 4 player cooperative PvE game. It is still in the concept testing stage. The second game has a higher budget, but the degree of completion so far also remains at the concept level.
Remedy’s fourth project is a free co-op PvE shooter Vanguard for Tencent, “combining the studio’s experience in storytelling and action with addictive multiplayer gameplay.” Apparently, there is still a long time before the release of this game – while the concept is being approved, there are no new details.
Finally, Virtala gave a brief update on the remake Max Payne 1-2which Remedy makes for Rockstar Games.
An updated version of the cult dilogy was announced in April and is now being developed by “a small backbone commands”. The project is made on the Northlight engine, which was used in all the latest games of the studio.
