Russian developers introduced the Astra Linux Special Edition operating system for smartphones and tablets


At the International Military-Technical Forum “Army-2022” company group “Astra» demonstrated an operating system adapted for mobile devices Astra Linux Special Edition.

Russian developers reported on the key changes implemented to work on smartphones and tablets. The mobile mode of the operating system is distinguished by a new graphical interface adapted for touch screens, including those with a small diagonal, as well as reduced power consumption and the presence of integrated Russian information security tools.

The operating system is capable of running unmodified Android applications in a sandboxed environment. It allows you to freely switch to desktop mode and back. The system is certified according to safety requirements and is included in the register of the Russian software of the Ministry of Digital Development.


At the moment, a number of domestic software products, in particular in the field of video and conferencing, work correctly in the Astra Linux environment in mobile mode. Astra Linux Special Edition also supports device drivers – touch screen, photo and video cameras, input / output, audio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, cellular 3G, 4G, GPS / GLONASS positioning and so on.

Users can connect peripherals in the form of a mouse, keyboard, printer to a mobile device and work with it, as on a PC. Mobile Astra works on x86 and ARM architectures. In fact, this mode can be launched on any tablet.
