Russian video hosting Rutube made access to its iOS application only for users from Russia in response to the requirement Apple remove from it the content of domestic state media.
As reported in the Telegram channel of the service, most of the Rutube audience lives in the Russian Federation, and such a decision was made so that Russian-speaking users of the platform could download the application on iPhone.
Users located in other countries will be able to continue watching Rutube content through the web version, and those who have downloaded the application in the past will probably have access to future updates.
Yesterday, the press service of Rutube reported that Apple requested from the service within two weeks, remove state-sponsored media content from your iOS app, or make the service available only to Russian users, otherwise the app will be removed from App Store. Video hosting chose the second option.
Rutube presents Russian channels and bloggers that were blocked on YouTube.
