Sega asked fans what mini-console they want to see from it – the list includes Dreamcast and Saturn

Company Sega conducts among buyers retro consoles Mega Drive Mini 2 poll about what classic game systems they want to see from it in a similar mini-format.

Now the questionnaire is available only to residents of Japan who bought the Mega Drive Mini 2, which was released on October 27th. The link and password to it are distributed directly in the box with the console.

Among the options available to answer are SG-1000, SG-3000, Mk III / Master System, Saturn, Game Gearas well as the third version Mega Drive Mini and Dreamcast.

Sega previously said it had long wanted to release Dreamcast Mini and Saturn Mini, but the implementation of such projects at that time was impossible. As the designers explained, the creation of the corresponding systems involves the production of new boards, and this is associated with great difficulties due to the lack and high cost of components against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. Perhaps now the situation has changed a little.

The Dreamcast was Sega’s last full console. Despite the fact that it lasted less than three years before being discontinued, the developers managed to create many high-quality exclusives for it in various genres. Among them Sonic Adventure, Shen Mue, Phantasy Star Online, Skies of Arcadia, Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, Resident Evil: Code – Veronica, Jet Set Radio and Rez.
