Sequel God of War: Ragnarok in development? Sony is recruiting people with franchise knowledge

Sony Santa Monica opened a new vacancy, which may indicate the beginning of the development of a sequel God of War: Ragnarök.

According to the announcement hosted on the studio website in the “Career” section, team of creators God of War a specialist was required for the position of senior combat system designer for companions. We are talking about the characters that accompany the protagonist of the game on his journey.

This mechanic was introduced in the 2018 soft restart of the series and then expanded upon in Ragnarok, where players were able to unlock new abilities and skills for Kratos’ companions so they could more effectively assist him in battles against difficult opponents.

The selected candidate will work with the Lead Combat Designer, Lead Hero Designer, Design Director, and Game Director to help develop companions, bosses, and other characters “from concept to completion.” One of the requirements is knowledge of God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarök, as well as the ability to deeply understand combat systems, related mechanics and enemies.

In addition to developing the God of War franchise, Santa Monica Studio has been working on an unannounced project for a new IP for a long time, which is being produced by the second part of the team, led by Cory Barlog. Presumably it could be a science fiction game.
