Sony has launched a new version of the PlayStation 5 for sale – a model with a disk drive is 0.6 kg lighter than the starting one


This morning, information appeared on the network that Sony preparing to launch a new revision PlayStation 5 under the code CFI-1200. Japanese trading network GEO indicatedthat such consoles will be 300 grams lighter than usual and will be released in the country on September 15 on the day of the recently announced PlayStation 5 price increase.

A few hours later, it turned out that in Australia, the CFI-1200 series consoles had already started. Disc drive models are 0.6 kg lighter than the starter models, and the Digital Edition per 0.5 kg. According to Press Start, they weigh 3.9 and 3.4 kg respectively.

PS5 disc drive:

  • CFI-1000A (starter version) – 4.5 kg
  • CFI-1100A (revision 2021) – 4.2 kg
  • CFI-1202A (revision 2022) – 3.9 kg


PS5 Digital Edition:

  • CFI-1000B (starting revision) – 3.9 kg
  • CFI-1100B (revision 2021) – 3.6 kg
  • CFI-1202B (rev 2022) – 3.4 kg

The new version of the disc-drive model weighs the same as the non-drive model at launch.. Soon such consoles should appear around the world.
