Sony has sold 25 million PS5 consoles – by the end of the financial year they plan to increase circulation by another 12 million


As of September 30 Sony Interactive Entertainment realized 25 million consoles PlayStation 5 in the world. This is stated in the report of the Japanese corporation for the second quarter of the current financial year, published today, November 1.

  • Revenue of the gaming division grew by 12%, to $4.88 billion, while operating profit decreased immediately by 49%, to $286 million. Sony attributed this to an increase in the cost of developing games and maintaining new PlayStation studios, including Bungie, as well as the negative impact currency fluctuations on general indicators. At the same time, revenue increased due to the recent price increase for the PlayStation 5.

Sony maintains its PlayStation 5 sales target for the current fiscal year of 18 million consoles in the first two quarters, 5.7 million units were sold, respectively until March 31, 2023, there are still 12.3 million left to sell.


At the same time, the overall revenue forecast for the gaming division for the year decreased by 12%. Sony stated that games from third-party developers perform worse than expected.
