Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge compared on PlayStation VR2 and Oculus Quest 2 – it got better

A video has surfaced online comparing recently announced reissue Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge under the helmet PlayStation VR2 with the original version of the game running on Oculus* Quest 2.

As far as I can tell from the video, in the PlayStation VR2 port, apart from the obviously higher resolution, the developers improved the lighting and shading model, added more different effects, including smoke, as well as increased the quality of the textures and finalized some locationsFor example, vegetation appeared where it had not been before.

In addition to visual differences, the PS VR2 version will also get support for eye tracking, 3D audio, and haptic effects transmitted through both controllers and the helmet itself.

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge was originally released on Oculus* Quest in November 2020. The project was inspired by the Disneyland attraction Galaxy’s Edge and tells the story of a droid repairman who, after being attacked by militants of the Guavian Death Gang, is forced to crash-land on the planet Batuu. During the adventure, the main character will be joined by some of the iconic characters of the saga, such as C-3PO, R2-D2 and Jedi Master Yoda.

The release of the game on the new Sony headset will take place in 2023.
