System Shock remake development director praised the updated Resident Evil 2 for the revival of horror

Head Nightdive Studiosdeveloping a new version System Shockpraised the reissue Resident Evil 2 and cited it as one of the key reasons for the resurgence of horror and remakes.

In an interview VGC Stephen Kick said that he is a big fan of the series Dead Space, so I was glad to learn about the creation of an updated first part. In addition, the head of development of the System Shock remake was interested in The Callisto Protocol, and, of course, he could not help but praise his own offspring. Thus, according to Kik, three horror films are released almost simultaneously.

“I am very happy about it. Sci-fi horror is probably my favorite genre so I’m always looking for that kind of stuff. However, I cannot fail to note that for some reason right now we are seeing a kind of influx of projects in this genre. Maybe people are just tired of fantasy.”

Kik added that the original Dead Space was a response to the release of Resident Evil 4, and now history is repeating itself.

“The developers of Resident Evil 2 have done an amazing job. They set the bar high and showed what a remake should be, and it sold incredibly well.”

As for System Shock, work on its updated version continues. Nightdive Studios has been working on the game since 2016 and it still doesn’t have a release date.
