The M1 Ultra doesn’t fall far behind the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 in benchmarks, but performs poorly in games

Specialists Digital Foundry compared processors M1 Max and M1 Ultra with video card GeForce RTX 3090. In synthetic tests, the M1 Ultra practically does not lag behind the NVIDIA solution, and sometimes overtakes it.

In the 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme benchmark, the video card shows 254.2 FPS, while the flagship Apple chip is 212.6 FPS. The performance of the M1 Max is much worse – only 121 FPS.

In Blender, the M1 Ultra scored 195.9 while the GeForce RTX 3090 only managed 178.1. In Cinebench R23, the graphics card emerged as the winner, but the lead was small.

In games, Apple processors performed worse:

  • M1 Ultra — 49fps
  • Windows Laptop — 29fps
  • Windows Desktop — 65fps

Metro Exodus
